SEE YA SOON
Hi Y’all
A lot of people have been asking me about viruses and malware recently, and how they get viruses when they have anti-virus software. Also, a number of people are worried because their machines are getting slower.
One of the reasons that your machine will get slower is because it’s getting fat. By this, I mean that your storage is filling up with data. Each time you turn on your machine, every time you go onto the internet, your machine records everything that you do and keeps a record. This is so that when you use system restore, the machine remembers that particular point. So you should clean unwanted files and your registry to allow your machine to run a little easier.
Doing this need not be daunting, or expensive. There’s plenty of free software to use out there, and today I’m going to list some that I’ve used myself to help to point you in the right direction.
OK, lets start with Anti-virus. Plenty of companies offer free anti-virus for the home user, because they make there money in the corporate sector. AVG is a popular choice, but the free version doesn’t scan for rootkits, so I prefer Avast 5. It has incremental updates, and automatically updates the virus database everytime you are online. I also like the boot-time scan option, which will restart your machine and scan before the operating system starts up.
For malware scanning, there are a number of options, such as Adaware, but the best on the market at the moment has to be Malwarebytes. This has removed some pretty nasty stuff for me over the years, including the XP Antivirus malware a couple of years ago, appearing out of nowhere, and holding people to ransom by pretending to be an antivirus. The only problem with Malwarebytes is that the free version that I test drove needed to be updated manually, appart from that, I thought it was great.
When it comes to cleaning the crap from you hard drive, there is Disk Cleanup in you system tools and Internet options in you control panel, but one of the greats for cleanup is, of course, Ccleaner. This program is brilliant, because it’s so simple to use. Install, change the settings to your own preference and away you go. Built by Piriform (originally called crap cleaner), their website is definately worth a look.
If you know what your doing, Hijackthis is a useful tool, if you need a firewall, zonealarm is quite good, although, it doesnt recognise some antiviruses, it still works just fine.
The important one for me is, of course, is the web browser. The list goes on and on, but the best for my money are Opera and Firefox, with Firefox being the most popular, due the hundreds of add-on that are availible.
Most free software is provided as freeware, but some are listed as donationware, where the software is made to be used for free, by non-corporate programmers, and the donations allow for the software to be updated by the generosity of the users. I would urge you to donate a small amount if you like the software and plan on using it, by way of a thankyou.
Most of you are probably quite proficient with your machines, the information here is to help those of you who are not quite au fait with your new machine, but simple steps like these can help in the longrun. Read up on how computers work, learn where the dangers lie. Don’t answer strange emails that ask for account numbers and passwords, banks don’t ever ask for sensitive information by email. Clear your browsing history with the tabs in your browser. Simple steps like these are similar to checking the oil and water in your car, or checking the tyre pressure.
I hope you all have a fantastic summer, and safe surfing, be it wet or web

Well, hello to everyone out there. Hope you are all well and had a most enjoyable New Year.
I didn’t post anything until now, because I have been job hunting.
I haven’t forgotten my duties though. I have been scouring the internet looking for New mashup’s, and I have found a few old favourites as well.
Those of you who are fans of the ramdomthoughts podcasts, will know that I brought to Scott’s attention a mashup artist by the name of Calmucho (formally known as Ken ‘Kendoll’ Carson). I’m sorry to say that he hasn’t produced anything new since the summer of 2008, but fear not, his Youtube channel is still running and his tracks are still available to download on his blogsite at calmucho.blogspot.com.
It seems that mead-vice.com is becoming popular with fans of mashup in Russia and Poland. I have received comments from many people (using Google Translate as I only speak english) and have received positive comments on the site. I wish to extend my gratitude to you all, Thank-you for your feedback, it’s much appreciated.
Fans of Colatron can find his long awaited Tenebrism, released 14th December on his website, but be warned that he’s been a busy boy, and has released seven tracks since December. So go to www.colatron.com and scroll down the page.
Also, over at maddisco.blogspot.com, Apollo Zero brings us his latest offering Donna Summer VS U2 – She works hard on New Years day. Also amongst the treasures you can find LeeDM101 – The One I Looped and also Womanizer on fire, two great tracks.
From the Godfather of Mashup, Bobby Martini, we have plethora of amazing mixes. Recent inclusions are La Roux in Pain and also a favourite of mine Sound Pollution this Time, Baby.
I have to say that if you visit www.bobbymartini.co.uk, check out the long mixes, especially Joy of Decks. The three Long Mixes on this page are on my ipod. They are, along with E.V.P. And the Political HipHop Mix, the soundtrack to my life.
The Political HipHop Mix is one of those classics, a piece of Mashup legend (up there with dangermouse’s black album), but people are having trouble finding it. If you are one of these people, try the link below

enjoy!!!
Dropping down from the No1 one position in the mashup charts, is the DJ’s from Mars, with Run this Town, a mashup of Jay-Z ft Rihanna (Run this town)VS Johann Sebastian Bach (Toccata and Fugue in D minor). Very well mixed, and Rihannas got a great set of pins on her.

I dont go much in the way of video mashups, if I’m honest, but I have stumbled across a couple of really good ones. I have uploaded them to mediafire for your enjoyment. Check them out at the links below

ta ta for now
Happy Christmas to you all. I’ve been offline for a while due to a rather nasty rootkit virus and my PC is dead. It was only an emachines, but I recently bought a 26 inch monitor for it, so I was a bit pissed off. Using an old laptop at the moment, while I build a new PC.
Goodness me, so many comments. Thankyou. What with the virus problem and christmas coming, I haven’t been scouring the net as much as I usually do. I love to find new talent in the world of mashup. I passed anything I found onto my good mate Scott over at RamdomThoughts. I now have my own page to pass these onto to you direct. I wanted to do a post before Christmas was upon us, and have found something you might like.
I am a huge fan of Top Gear, and of Clarkson in general, and while looking through youtube, I found a vid by a guy called Swede Mason called Jeremy Clarkson – Beatbox. It’s ACE. Definitly a must see. So check the links below and I will see you in the new year
All the best, Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year
And to all a goodnight

I have received an email informing me that the WordPress theme I’m using has problems when being viewed in Internet Explorer. If you are using any other browser such as Firefox or Opera, things seem to be ok. I will look into this, and it may mean that I’ll have to change the look of the site. Sorry for any probs that may arise.
I have been playing around with some free loops I found on the net and have been playing around with Audacity. I have come up with my very first mashup and have decided to list it here. I hope you like it, its a mash of Katy Perry’s Hot & Cold mixed with Overseer’s Velocity Shift. Had a lot of fun making it.
